Sneak preview By Malene Birger SS11

Well, the forecast today in good ol' Brighton is rain rain rain, so I'm cheering myself up with another look at next seasons collections. I always love looking at what I've bought for next season and the Malene Birger SS11 is really lovely. I always find that Malene gets quite structured and edgy in Autumn/Winter which can be difficult for some women to wear. However she always softens things up for Spring/Summer. For next season the silhouettes are dominated by the new length drawn from the skirts and dresses of the 50s, and the lean, cool suiting from menswear. Focus is paid to separates. High waist skirts are used with floaty feminine blouses to create a sexy and classic form. Pants are pleated for extra volume – either with carrot shaped or wide legs. Also, we're offered amazing all in one jumpsuits for a casual yet revealingly sexy look.

Tops are floaty, feminine, blousey affairs or over-sized tees. Team these with a formal jacket and you have the ideal Spring workwear wardrobe. The Spring palette is quite muted, lots of khaki, tobacco, sludgy browns and creams - lots of earthy colours. The High Summer pieces are again very feminine and sexy, but more playful and the colours are brighter with orange shades being quite prevelant - shades such as "Coralish" and, my personal fave, "Peachy Lips"!

So there it is, lots of jumpsuits, different length skirts and trouser shapes, great colours, and my prediction for the dress (the Meliasa shown in the photo) that all the press are going to call in as a must have for the season......

You're gonna love it.
